Common procedures

Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM)

Performed in Cardiology and vascular diseases.

What is it?

Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) uses a small device linked to an arm cuff, worn for 24 hours. It measures blood pressure many times, by day and by night. It helps the doctor see how blood pressure changes through the day.

What to expect

It is painless: the cuff inflates at regular intervals and you carry on with your usual activities. You return the device the next day, then the doctor analyses the readings.

General information that does not replace your doctor’s advice or the instructions given before a test.
