Dental implant

Performed in Dental surgery.

What is it?

A dental implant is a small screw, often made of titanium, placed in the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. It supports a crown or a denture. No dedicated reference page was found among the approved publishers.

What to expect

Placement is usually done under local anaesthetic. The bone then needs several months to heal before the final tooth is fitted, with several appointments.
